Guide to Applying for ECNU Full-Time Ph.D. Programs with CSC Scholarships

East China Normal University (ECNU) offers a fantastic opportunity for international students to further their education with the support of a CSC Scholarship. Here’s an easy-to-follow guide to help you understand the requirements, benefits, and application process.

Who Can Apply?
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a non-Chinese citizen in good health.
- Should demonstrate strong academic and behavioral performance.
Degree Requirements:
- Applicants must hold a master’s degree.
- Age limit: Under 40 years old.
Language Proficiency:
- Chinese-Taught Programs:
- HSK Level 5 or above with a score of at least 180.
- Those who don’t meet the Chinese proficiency requirements must take a one- to two-year language course. This period can also be sponsored by the CSC. Note: If you fail to meet the language requirements, the scholarship will be canceled.
- English-Taught Programs:
- Applicants need a valid English proficiency test certificate or proof of taking an English-taught program. Native English speakers are exempt.
What Does the Scholarship Cover?
- Tuition and Accommodation: Fully waived.
- Monthly Stipend:
- Ph.D. students receive 3,500 RMB per month.
- Stipends start on the registration date. Students registering after the 15th will get half the stipend for that month.
- Stipends stop if the student is outside China for personal reasons (except during official holidays) for more than 15 days.
- Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health coverage.
How to Apply?
Step 1: Complete the Online Applications
- ECNU Application:
- Register at the ECNU Online Portal and pay the application fee.
- CSC Application:
- Register at the CSC Portal.
- Use ECNU’s institutional code: 10269. Choose “Type B” for the scholarship type.
- Submit and download your application form.
Step 2: Submit Application Documents
- For Ph.D. programs, ensure all required documents are uploaded. Incomplete applications or those missing fees will not be processed.
- Applications via email or fax are not accepted.
- Hard copies are not required unless specifically requested.
Step 3: Track Your Application
- Regularly check your email or the ECNU application portal for updates.
- Look out for interview invitations or other important notices.
Step 4: Admission and Enrollment
- Admission results will be posted on your ECNU application account.
- Bring your original graduation and degree certificates when registering. Failure to provide these will result in cancellation.
Important Notes
- Fraudulent documents will result in disqualification.
- Scholarship winners unable to register on time must inform the university in writing at least 15 days before the deadline.
- Scholarships will be revoked for students who:
- Fail the admission medical exam.
- Drop out or suspend their studies.
