Introduction to Guangxi University Journalism and Communication Program
Guangxi University (GXU) began its journey in journalism education in 1972. Today, the School of Journalism and Communication offers three main undergraduate programs: Journalism, Advertising, and Broadcasting & Hosting Arts. The school also provides master’s degrees in Journalism and Communication. Currently, it has 1,156 students, including 883 undergraduate and 273 postgraduate students.
GXU’s School of Journalism and Communication is one of the 13 key members of the Chinese Society of Journalism Education, a prestigious organization for journalism studies in China. A professor from this school is also part of the Ministry of Education's Steering Committee for Journalism and Communication Teaching. The school’s Journalism program is recognized as a national-level characteristic major, and both Journalism and Broadcasting & Hosting Arts are classified as national first-class undergraduate majors. Advertising is a provincial-level first-class undergraduate major.
